On 13.05.2018 (Sunday) Gopinath had came near his hardware shop and a man named Saravanan had called Gopi and told him that he has some work and asked Gopi to accompany him. He took Gopi to his grandfather’s house (Anbu Asari – belonged to the dominant caste). He then took to a room which is at the backside of the house. He pushed and locked him into to the room. Then he made a phone call his friends namely Prabhakaran, Ganesh, Dharman, Sakthi and asked them to come to his grandfather’s house.
Saravanan along with his 4 friends came into the room and nude Gopinath and brutally attacked him by tying his hands and legs. They also verbally abused Gopinath in filthy and derogatory language by referring to the caste names by falsely stating that he had climbed on the top roof of his grandfather’s house and peeped in. Gopinath had explained Saravanan and 4 of his friends that he never came there and never climbed to the top roof. But they did not listen to him, rather brutally attacked him with the sharp edged and heated iron rods at his knees, legs, foot, hands and genitals. Gopinath had screamed to release and only by 3:00 pm they had released him.
Then by 4 pm Anbu Asari’s daughter Ms. Suseela had went to Gopinath’s house; she had threatened him to kill him and not to reveal about this incident to anyone. She also made the victim to ask sorry to her. The next day, (14.05.2018) Mr. Anbu Asari had met Gopinath’s uncle Mr. Muthu Veeran and told him about the brutal attack on Gopinath and adding that, to take him to the hospital. Immediately Muthu Veeran rushed to Gopinath’s home and enquired about the incident.
Gopinath had cried in pain and narrated the incident; Muthu Veeran then took him to the Coimbatore Government hospital on 15.05.2018 and admitted him as inpatient for three days (15.05.2018-18.05.2018). On 19.05.2018 Muthu Veeran had went to the Somanur Police Station and had lodged a complaint. The CSR was filed and a copy was given to the victim boy’s uncle. By the intervention of SASY a case was registered on 25.5.2018 with the crime no: 209/2018 u/s 147, 148, 323, 324, 342, 506 (2) of IPC and 3(1) r, 3(2) va of SC/ST PoA Amendment Act 2015 at Somanur PS.
