Case summary

This case is registered in Jajpur Police Station basing on the complaint by Prasanta Kumar Jena Age-36, S/O- Kahnei Charana Jena of Caste- SC, sub-caste- Pana , village-Chital (Jhadanga), PS- Jajpur, District- Jajpur.

Prasant was the Polling Agent of independent Sarapanch candidate Smt Ranjulata Mohanty of .......... Panchayat of Dasarathpur Block in Jajpur district. It was early in the morning; Prasant was sitting in Booth no-5 as the agent. At that time weapon wielding group led by Sitakant Satpathy made a forced entry in to the polling booth with the intention of booth capturing. They threatened all to vacate the booth. They were the supporter of the contesting candidate Smt Bijaylakshmi Satpathy, daughter in law of Sitakant Satpathy. Prasant did not leave the booth and opposed them. The accused persons abused Prasant with obscene languages aspersing his caste name Pana, pushed him and assaulted him by means of fists, blows and weapons like bhujali and lathi. In the attack, Prasant sustained bleeding head injury.

Being injured, the victim was taken to DHH, Jajpur and treatment was given including stitches on the head and bandaged. After the treatment, the victim went to Jajpur police station and lodged complaint which was registered as FIR no 60 dated 18.2.22 under Sections 294, 323, 506, 34 IPC with 3(1)(r), 3(1)(s), 3(2)(va) of SC & ST PoA Act. The victim met the Suptd. Of Police, Jajpur on on 25.2.2022 and to the Collector, Jajpur on 28.2.2022 and requested for his protection as the accused persons are said to be planning to attack him further. He also met Additional D.G, HRPC to request for his protection.

The accused persons are Sitakanta Sathpathy, 2- Sukuta, 3-Tubula, 4-Dhania Sathpathy S/O-Sitakanta Sathpathy, 5-Nira Sahoo, 6-Sarat Rout, 7-Santosh Rout, 8-Kunu, 9-Kalia S/O-Balu Sahoo, 10-Pintu S/O-Jada.
