Case summary
| On 28th March, the father of deceased Delta Meghwal, Mr Mahendra Ram Meghwal, resident of village Trimohi, Gadra Road, Rajasthan left his daughter at the Girls Hostel after the Holi vacation. Around 8 O clock, in the evening, Ms Delta called her father and informed him that accused Vijendra Singh, who is a PTI of Jain Girls Teachers Training Institute has sexually assaulted her with the help of warden Priya Shukla and she does not want to be there anymore. On this, Mahendra Ram consoled her and promised her to visit her next day i.e. on 29th March. On 29th March, 2016, around 1:30 PM, Mahendra Ram received a phone call from Nokha Police Station informing him about the death of his daughter Delta Meghwal. It is allegedly said by Mahendra Singh that, on 28th when he left the hostel after dropping his daughter there, there were only four hostellers in the hostel. He was informed by Delta over phone that Priya Shukla asked her to clean the room where accused Vijendra was already sitting. When she entered the room, he raped her and threatened her to death if she tells anything about it. As per the institute’s administration’s version, when one ANM Ms Leena Gupta did not find Delta in her bed around 12:20 in the night and the main door was open, she started searching Delta with other three hostellers. The warden was also informed who used to live 200 metres far from the hostel. All of them searched for Delta including warden’s husband Pragyaprateek Shukla. After some time, they found Delta in PTI’s Vijendra Singh’s room. Instead of informing the police, the warden, her husband and ANM brought them (Delta and PTI) to their home and made them write a note of apology. Thereafter, at 3:15 AM, the ANM brought Delta in the hostel. According to her, she was normal. It was also said that they did not inform the police on Delta’s request. She did not want to reveal the fact as she was afraid of her father and family. When the hostel mates of Delta were approached, we were told that she was distressed when she returned. Delta woke up around 6:50 in the morning as usual. She went out of the room. ANM followed her. She asked about her to Warden’s father Mr Shyam Shukla, who was walking there. Then he told her that she went towards the mess and tank. After that, warden, Mr Shyam Shukla and two other hostellers searched for her. They also checked the tank but could not find her there. Then around 11 O Clock, the watchman found her dead in the tank. |
