Case summary

Elumalai S/O Chinnraj, a resident of Kulathumettu Street, Melpalanandal Village, Tiruvannamalai District. He is belonged to the Irular Caste (Sub Caste of Scheduled Tribes). He is residing with his wife Kuppu, Seenuvasan (23) and daughters Akila (21) and Pavithra (13). He and his wife Kuppugot separated and his two children are residing with his wife. And the case against him is pending in the Tiruvannamalai Magistrate's Court since 2015.

His daughter went to work in a cell phone shop in Avalurpet. At that time, Manikandan (23), son of Sinraj, fromVanniyar community of Kovilpuraiyur village, was driving an auto in Avalurpet. His daughter Akhila and Manikandan have been in love with each other. The couple got married at the Arunachal temple in Tiruvannamalai last October and came home.

His daughter Akila told his father that if he knows about their love he would not allow them to get married and hence they got married in the temple. When he inquired who the boy was, she told him that it was Chinnraj's son Manikandanand was driving his own car in Kovilpuraiyur village.

Later, the couple started their life in Kovilpuraiyur village. They both lived happily and after 6 months his daughter Akila said she was pregnant. We were very happy. A few days later he continued to bully with his daughter asking for dowry. She has been beaten and tortured. Unable to bear the torture his daughter she came to her home and told about the brutal incident.

After that Manikandan and his mother Selvihad verbally abused in filthy and derogatory language and brutally attacked her. He heard about the brutal incident and he rushed to the place and gave her jewelryof 4 sovereigns. And on 23.06.2021 at around 04.30 pm he received a phone call stating that his daughter had been hanged at their home in Kovilpuraiyur village.

He immediately rushed to the said village and the villagers told that his daughter was taken to Villupuram Mundiyambakkam Government Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Then they lodged a complaint at the Avalurpet police station and the next day on 24.06.2021 the Villupuram RDO came and investigatedabout the incidentand Manikandan was arrested and kept in jail.
