According to the statements of Bhuja Mallick and his wife Sabitri Mallick, In December 2013, four families were brought to the brick kiln at Sainso village by Manoj Bhatt, a dalal from Paikmal area. According to the unwritten agreement, the laborers were supposed to work in the brick kiln only for two months but they have been forcefully made captives since last five months. The Dalal has taken Rs.11, 000/- from brick kiln owner but he did pay them any advance. It was agreed that they would be paid Rs. 700 for 1000 bricks but the laborers actually have received only Rs.400 per 1000 bricks. On Holi Day, Bhuja Mallick was severely beaten up by brother of Koramat Ali and drunken Santosh, who too from Paikmal area and work with Karamat Ali as a servant. Bhuja was severely injured on his ear and unable to hear properly. In every week, they have been paid some cash and kind (rice), which was not sufficient for their livelihood. They have to walk 3-4 kms distance to collect firewood. The rice they receive was of very low quality but at high price
