Lalmuni Devi (45) w/o Mohar Ram is r/o Rajapur, P.O. Chakiya, PS- Bhagwanpur, Dist- Siwan, belongs to scheduled caste community. The dominant caste people abducted Lalmuni Devi and her daughter Robi Kumari and gang raped. The victim Lalmuni Devi managed to survive but her daughter died due to rape.
A rape case was registered in Bhagwanpur police station on 17/07/2008, No. 47/08, u/s 308, 354, 34 IPC & 3(1)(x)of SC/ST (PoA) Act. against the rapists. One accused is in jail and others are absconding. The case is under trial in Chhapra Dist. Court. Compensation is not given to the victim /survivors yet.
Case in Brief
Ms. Bhavani (21) R/o Shivajinagar, Meerpet, RR Dist. belong to SC community. Santosh Reddy residing by right side of Bhavani’s residence got acquainted as their fathers are employees of BDL this acquaintance slowly led intimacy between them wherein Santosh Reddy used to force Bhavani for meeting at Tankbund, Meerpet, Internet and parks. This intimacy developed into love and on 18th June, 2006 she informed him that her parents are searching for marriage alliance as such they found that if their parents come to know about love affair they may not agree as they belong to different castes.
Santosh Reddy threaten of committing suicide if Bhavani fails to marry him. Thus he induced and forced her to marry wherein he assured her of Register marriage and then convincing of both side parents. In pursuance of his words on 18th June, 2006 at 10.30 am they both along with friends and relatives went to Sai Baba Temple, Vaidehinagar, Vanasthalipuram, Hyderabad and got married. Then after they moved to rented house at Domalguda, Gaganmahal, Hyderabad and started living together.
They both lived happily only for one week after which her in-laws started calling her husband by instigating him to leave her as she belongs to SC community and moreover he would have get dowry of 15 lakhs if he would have married a girl within their caste. Slowly her husband and in-laws started abusing and harassing her in the name of caste. He started coming late nights by drinking liquor and abused her in filthy language.
On 14th Morning he took his certificates, Laptop and other items relevant to him but Bhavani does not identified that he is making arrangements to leave On 15th July, 2007 thus he left her company without informing her.
Case in Brief
D Nagalakshmi, aged 22 years, resident of Bapujinagar and Balaji, aged 23 years are acquainted with each other since 7 years. This gradually developed into love. He promised that he would marry her and developed physical intimacy with her. Consequently she conceived and informed the same to him. Initially he said that he would marry her but later he refused to marry her in the 4th month of conception. She complained in the police station. With the intervention of DSS, police traced out the accused and took him into custody. Family of the accused tried to compromise by offering money to the victim. DSS stood by her and strongly demanded that the accused should marry her. Counseling was arranged with parents from both the sides, DSS and police. Balaji agreed to marry Nagalakshmi in front of everyone. While arrangements were being made for marriage, he again absconded. Finally with the pressure of DSS, police traced out him and both got married.

Doolla Ratnam, aged 45 years, W/o Doolla Chandraiah, Srungavriksham, Gollapeta, Tondangi mandal, East Godavari District, BC Golla by caste is ward member in Gollapeta. Koruprolu Sridevi is the sarpanch of Gollapeta, Tondangi mandal, East Godavari district. Though Sridevi is the sarpanch, Yelisetti Satyanarayana, S/o Yelisetti Kondal Rao, aged 60 years, Sringavriksham, Tondangi mandal, OC Kapu by caste controls over the panchayat functioning.
Since Doolla Ratnam was an intelligent and honest ward member, Yelisetti Satyanarayana could not bear this and he abused her by saying “Yemite Lanja” (What Bitch) in Grama Sabha when she questioned his presence there. Raged by this Doolla Ratnam got angry and slapped him by holding his collar.
Yelisetti Satyanarayana developed grudge on her and was looking for an opportunity. Once she ensured that Aakula Srinu, the dealer of PDS was caught red handed for illegally transporting the goods. Due to this grudge, both Satyanarayana and Srinu burnt 80 bags of paddy in the field of Doolla Ratnam. She lodged a complaint with the police, but in vain.
On 14th July 2007 Doolla Ratnam was sleeping in her house along with her grand son, one Thopati Achiyamma, a relative of her neighbour came to watch TV and fell asleep in the same room. Both Satyanarayana and Srinu along with two others entered the house at around 2.00 a.m of 14.07.07 and strangulated Doolla Ratnam to death. Then they poured kerosene on Ratnam and her grand son and burnt them. As the kerosene split on Thopati Achiyamma, she was also burnt. Ratnam’s grand son died in the Government hospital, Tuni. Achiyamma is in the Government Hospital, Kakinada under going treatment, she has around 50% of burns.
DSS Intervention:
Later with the pressure from DSS, the accused was arrested and latter released on bail.
