A Dalit Man Saravanan was Brutally Attack by Kurinjipadi Police

Mr. Saravanan, S/o Kaliyan is belonged to the Adi-dravidar Caste.  He lives with his wife and his children.  He works as a driver and earns a living by running his family and educating his children.

Constable Balasundaram told that 110 cases had been registered against him at the Kurinjipadi police station in the last three months. Later, police officers Ravichandran SSI, Gnanasekar SSI, Vetrivel (driver) and Nandagopal (record) working at the Kurinjipadi police station came to know about the false case against him and wrote a complaint to the State Commission seeking action against them.

Based on this, the Scheduled Caste Commission has sent a letter to the Cuddalore District Superintendent of Police two months ago asking for a report. A copy has also been sent to Saravanan. On 16-09-2020, the Kurinjipadi policemen called Saravanan and asked why he had lodged a complaint at the SC Commission.

In this situation, the next day on 17-09-2020 at around 10.30 am he went to the Kurinjipadi police station to lodge a complaint with Rajesh, the son of Ezhumalai from Saravanan village due to some land dispute. Drunken Vetrivel, policeman had registered the complaint seeking action against him and also verbally abused him in filthy and derogatory language referring to the caste names.

Kanagaraj, who was inside, along with Constable Nandagopal, waved and gestured to hit the lock in the lockup. Saravanan was scared and asked Jayaprakash to take action on the complaint he had sent to him, but Saravanan screamed and told him that he would not ask to plan to push me inside.

Meanwhile, when Saravanan escaped from Vetrivel and ran out of the police station, Navaneetham, whom he knew, came in a two-wheeler and Saravanan got into a cart with him and Vetrivel chased them as they were going towards the City Grocery on Kurinjipadi Shop Street. When they stopped the car, Saravanan\\\\\\\'s friend Navaneetham, who was driving the car, stabbed Vetrivel twice in the face. Then they took the car keys and took the helmet from the car and threatened him that he would pour petrol here if he escapes from him.

He also verbally abused him and brutally attacked Saravanan with sharp weapons. Saravanan sustained injuries at his nose and was bleeding. Saravanan had pleaded to leave him, but he continuously attacked him. In the meantime, Saravanan contacted the SP and told him about the incident. Irrespective of that, Vetrivel took Saravanan in his two-wheeler and told the driver to take him to the station.

On the same day 17-09-2020 at around 11.30 am he was admitted as an inpatient at Kurinjipadi Government Hospital and the Inspector Shyamsundar Kumaravel SSI came to the hospital.
