Abused & Caste Violence against Dalit student named Divyatharani by Caste Hindus

    Divyatharani is studying 9th standard in Government Higher secondary School in Oraiyur.


    On 13 .06.2018, a group of the Kavundar (Vanniyar) community students 1. Hemnath 2.Kaviyarasu,   3.Balamurugan 4.Varakku 5.Parthiban, 6. Anbumani, 7.Arulmurugan 8.Kaliyan 9.Balamurugan verbally and physically abused Divyatharani who belongs to Scheduled caste communities.


    A group of students throw mango seed on her breast in the school and she told his friends about incidents. The other students asked why the boys threw the seeds on her and they had a clash between two groups.


    Dominant community student along with their parents protested against Dalit students, ‘School is our school so students of Paryars have to be sent out of the school’ said a group of students.


    Divyatharani and her parent told to the headmaster about incident but Mr. Settu, Headmaster did not listen to their words. He favored to Dominant caste students and helped dominant community as well.


    Continuation of these issues, Hemnath who belongs to caste Hindu community commented filthy words in the face book at 9.00 pm on 15.06.2018.  Based on this evident, R.Kaliyaperumal, secretary of oraiyur block, and V.C.K Complained against Hemnath and file a FIR under the SC/ST act.

Dalit Youth Gobinath was Caste Abused and Brutally Attacked by Caste Hindus

    On 13.05.2018 (Sunday) Gopinath had came near his hardware shop and a man named Saravanan had called Gopi and told him that he has some work and asked Gopi to accompany him. He took Gopi to his grandfather’s house (Anbu Asari – belonged to the dominant caste). He then took to a room which is at the backside of the house.  He pushed and locked him into to the room. Then he made a phone call his friends namely Prabhakaran, Ganesh, Dharman, Sakthi and asked them to come to his grandfather’s house.


    Saravanan along with his 4 friends came into the room and nude Gopinath and brutally attacked him by tying his hands and legs. They also verbally abused Gopinath in filthy and derogatory language by referring to the caste names by falsely stating that he had climbed on the top roof of his grandfather’s house and peeped in. Gopinath had explained Saravanan and 4 of his friends that he never came there and never climbed to the top roof. But they did not listen to him, rather brutally attacked him with the sharp edged and heated iron rods at his knees, legs, foot, hands and genitals. Gopinath had screamed to release and only by 3:00 pm they had released him.


    Then by 4 pm Anbu Asari’s daughter Ms. Suseela had went to Gopinath’s house; she had threatened him to kill him and not to reveal about this incident to anyone. She also made the victim to ask sorry to her. The next day, (14.05.2018) Mr. Anbu Asari had met Gopinath’s uncle Mr. Muthu Veeran and told him about the brutal attack on Gopinath and adding that, to take him to the hospital. Immediately Muthu Veeran rushed to Gopinath’s home and enquired about the incident.


    Gopinath had cried in pain and narrated the incident; Muthu Veeran then took him to the Coimbatore Government hospital on 15.05.2018 and admitted him as inpatient for three days (15.05.2018-18.05.2018). On 19.05.2018 Muthu Veeran had went to the Somanur Police Station and had lodged a complaint. The CSR was filed and a copy was given to the victim boy’s uncle. By the intervention of SASY a case was registered on 25.5.2018 with the crime no: 209/2018 u/s 147, 148, 323, 324, 342, 506 (2) of IPC and 3(1) r, 3(2) va of SC/ST PoA Amendment Act 2015 at Somanur PS.

Death of School Girl Due to Negiligence of School & Hospital Management

    S. Makalakshimi (13) is studying 8th Standard in Kammapuram Government Higher Secondary School in Kammapuram. Due to overcrowd, she regularly used to go to school by bus at 7.30 a.m from home and reaches school at 7.45 a.m.


    On 7th June 2018 (Thursday), she reached the school and kept her belongings and went to toilet at school; after coming back from the toilet she fell down and fainted in the school permises. There was no watchman and any staff in the school permises but Saranraj and Selvam (students) who were standing near the school and they took her to the Kammapuram Government Hospital where she was died due to no presence of duty doctors and also the nurse refused to give first aid treatment without consultation of duty doctor.


    Based on the incidence, the village peole refuse to receive body from hospital and protest at the stage of hospital against hospital administration.

Caste Discrimination and Brutal Attack on Dalit Suriya

    Surya (21), S/o Mr. Vellakanni is a resident of of Sambuveli Village of Marakkanam Block of Tindivanam Taluk of Villupuram District. He belonged to the Pariayar Community (sub caste of Scheduled Caste). On 05.06.2018 Surya and Ajith had gone to a puncture shop for repairing his Splendor bike tyres. This shop was owned by Mr. Raja (38) of Karipalayam and he belonged to the dominant community (Nadar).


    Raja refused to repair his bike and verbally abused him in filthy language by referring to his caste names and also severely attacked Surya with a ring rod. Surya sustained brutal injuries at his lower jaw and backside of his head. 


    Finally Surya was taken to JIPMER hospital for medical treatment. Due to lack of beds in the hospital, the hospital management made the victim Surya along with his mother to stay outside of the hospital corridor.

Caste Discrimination & Brutal Attack by Caste Hindu

    Baskar (21) is a resident of K. Andipalayam village of Avinashi Taluk of Tirupur District. He belonged to the Hindu Chakkiliyar community (sub caste of Scheduled Castes). He is working in a garment company and his fathers Mr. Ramasamy as well as his mother Thangamani are working as agricultural labourers.


    On 04.05.2018 at about 11: 00 am Baskar and his 7 friends had gone to Ootarpalayam Annmar Temple festival and about 4: 00 pm they were playing cricket in nearby ground along with the kids. Meanwhile a man from the dominant community scolded the kids and told them why there were playing with the Dalit boys and told the kids to go home.


    Also the man verbally abused Baskar and his friends in filthy language referring to the caste names and in the mean time about 50 men from dominant community (Gounder caste) surrounded Baskar and his friends and brutally attacked them with pelting stones, glass bottles and wooden logs. They sustained severe and grievous injuries at their hands, joints, legs and head. They also made Baskar’s friends Dinesh Kumar to drink the contaminated water from the drainage and ceased the android mobiles worth Rs. 15,000/- of Arun Kumar and Vijaya Kumar and left the place.


    Baskar and his friends with the heinous injuries went to the Avinashi Government Hospital and since there was no doctor, the nurse and hospital staff gave injections and tablets to the injured persons. The next day morning the 8 victims were to the hospital for further treatment and got admitted in the hospital.


    A case was registered with the Sevur Police Station with the crime number 110/2018 u/s sec 147, 294 (b), 323, 324, 506 (2), 355, 427, 379 of IPC r/w 3 (1) (r), 3 (1) (s), 3 (2) (va) of SC/ST PoA Amendment Act 2015 on 05.05.2018
