On 16 June 2006, Peddamatari Gangamma (10) and her sister Pedddamartari Gowramma (10) D/o P. Yadaiah belongs to Madiga (SC) caste were playing on BT Road by grazing goats. D. Mallaiah (21) S/o Peddulu belongs to Mudraju, BC community, took the victim Gangamma to bricks kiln on a plea of loading bricks on his cycle. There he raped the victim. At about 3.30 pm when Yadaiah and his wife Maremma returned home from work, Gangamma came home weeping and holding lower garments by her hand and fell down on the ground. When they enquired she narrated whole incident to her parents. Because of the social stigma, initially Yadaiah did not inform to the village elders about the incident.
On 19/06/06 Yadaiah came to the Valligonda Police station and lodge a complaint against the accused. Accused was arrested and got bail. Compensation paid of Rs 25, 000/- to the victim. Charge sheet filed.
Case in Brief:
Jangam Sarasamma, W/o Venkanna, (Late) aged 45years, SC-Mala by caste, native of Godevarru village, Kankipadu mandal, Krishna district. She has 5 girl children. The last one being Jangam Tharangini, aged 14 years, was affected with brain tumor disease in her childhood affecting her mental growth. Thus she stays at home as a mentally challenged girl. Sarasamma is an agricultural labourer and she takes her other 4 girl children along with her to the fields.
Uppuleti Dhana Prasad, accused, aged 50 years, resident of Godevarru village, Kankipadu mandal, Krishna district. He comes to Sarasamma’s house regularly. There is good relation between Sarasamma and Dhana Prasad’s family. Sarasamma’s children go to Dhana Prasad’s house to watch Television. One day, when Jangam Tharangini was alone Dhana Prasad went to her house. At that time she was having her food. He gagged her mouth, removed her clothes and raped her. After the rape, she told him that she would inform what had happened with her mother. He threatened her not to inform and warned if she informs he will set their house on fire. The victim who was thus threatened did not inform the matter to any one due to fear. Thereafter he continuously had sexual intercourse with her. After some time when she went to hospital for medical check ups, she realized that she was pregnant.
