Murder of a Dalit on theft allegation, Habri village

  • Summary:: The incident happened on 10.04.08 in Habri village under the jurisdiction of Pundri Police Station, Kaithal District. The victim Rajendar (20) S/o Ram singh belongs to Valmiki community was charged with the false allegation of theft by the perpetrators Bhupender singh (45) and Virsingh belongs to the Jat sikh community from the same village and abducted the victim on 10/04/08 and beaten very cruelly with iron rod and sticks which cause serious injuries to the victim. Due to this attack he became very serious. Since it was the night time he found nobody in that way. Somehow the village Sarpanch Raguvir came to know about the incident and informed to the Pundri Police station at about 1 am. After some time two police officials went to the spot. Though he was very serious and about to die they did not take him to the hospital and did not take any steps to save his life. They simply left him in the spot itself and returned back to the police station. Due to the serious injuries and unbearable pain and also the negligence of the police the victim died in that spot. On 11/04/08 the next day morning the family and the relatives came to know about his death. Then his dead body was taken to the district Govt. hospital at Kaithal for the post mortem. On the same day 11/04/08 the case was registered in Pundri police station. The FIR no is 79/08 u/s 302/342/34 IPC. Perpetrators are arrested and in jail. So far no relief and compensation has been given to the victim’s family and the charge sheet also is not yet submitted in the court.

Bonded Labour at Sardar Zira Firozpur

  • Summary:: Kuldeep Singh S/o Tehal Singh, Aged 22 years is resident of village- Shahwala, tehsil-Zira, Distt- Ferozpur. He belongs to ‘Majhabi Sikh’ caste which is declares scheduled caste by the Govt of Punjab. He was worked for Chanan Singh Pardhan S/o Piyara Singh resident village- Shahwala, tehsil-Zira, Distt- Ferozpur. Kuldeep Singh was working from 2008 for the employer. The employer give him advance of Rs. 10000/- to bonded labourer which he has used to pay the bonded debt of his previous employer Hardeep Singh S/o Surat Singh of the same village. The employer fixed his salary 40,000 /- per year. The bonded labourer worked for the employer from 5:00am to 11:00 p.m. During the season he worked continuously day and night. The employer does not allow any leave for the bonded labourer. When the bonded labourer take a leave due to illness and due to other domestic purpose then the employer charged him fine of Rs.150 for day and night and add this amount in the advance amount and make an interest on the whole amount. After one year work when the bonded labourer demanded his wages to make his house then the employer abused him on caste base and demanded the debt of Rs. 26000 from the bonded labourer. The employer does not allow the bonded labourer to leave his work without paying the bonded debt .The bonded labourer was not interested to continue his work with the employer.When he approached to VSJ his complaint was filed before District Magistrate, Firozpur. Now he is physically free from bonded labour and bonded debt but he has not been given any release certificate from the concerned district administration.

ATTEMPT TO MURDER OF DALIT WOMAN

     Talluri Sri Divya, aged 26 years, D/o Taalluri Chandra, SC by caste, was working as doctor in Nature Cure Centre of Annavaram Devasthanam.  She was abetted to suicide by V Lakshman, Kalinga (BC) by caste. 

     

    Sri Divya and Lakshman studied in Nature Cure College, Ameerpet, Hyderabad from 2001 to 2008.  Divya is native of Rajahmundry, East Godavari District and Lakshman is a native of Srikakulam.  They were in love since 2001.  He promised to marry her.

     

     After completing her studies, she got posted in Annavaram as Medical Officer.  Preference is given to married couples in the posting.  Lakshman has submitted his resume and a letter to the same job with reference to Sri Divya stating that she is his would-be and they would like to work together.  Sri Divya convinced her employer, as he had one subject to pass out and 6 months time was given to him. 

     

    He came to Hyderabad on the pretext of completing his degree.  Divya has came to know that he was trying to go to Australia.  When she talked to him, he refused to marry her saying that she belongs to scheduled caste and hence his parents would not agree to their marriage.  He also demanded Rs.20,000,00/- dowry from her.  Even Lakshman’s brother, V Ram Mohan Rao, 5th Ward Member in Srikakulam, threatened Divya to leave his brother.  Later Lakshman stopped talking to Divya. 

     

    Divya has come to know that he was staying in Moosapet in the residence of Sanjana.  On 1st April 2008, she called up her friends and said that she is coming to Hyderabad from Annavaram and said that she would go in for legal action if he refuses to marry her.  Divya talked to her friend over phone at 11:00 am on 2nd April 2008 and said that she is in Hyderabad.  Divya said that she met Lakshman and they are at Sanjana’s residence.  Later one unknown person called her mother and informed that Divya is in Hyderabad and is ill.  Her mother tried calling her and could talk to her at 01:30 noon.  Divya was weeping and said that she would reach home in 10 minutes but came at 03:00 pm in auto.  Noticing that she was ill her mother tried to feed her but Divya vomited.  When her mother asked, she replied that she was given milk by Sanjana.  She was taken to local hospital.  The doctor informed that she is toxicated and should be taken to other hospital.  Divya was taken to Remedy Hospital, Kukatpally at 09:30 pm.  The doctors informed that she is toxicated by sleeping pills and pesticide and admitted in Hospital. Divya’s father is a retired employee and her mother is house-wife.  They were finding it very hard to meet the medical expenses. FIR bearing No. 101/08 was registered in Sanathnagar PS u/s 420 of IPC, 3(1) (x) of SC/ST (PoA) Act on 4th April 2008. Accused arrested and remanded.

Mass Attack on a Dalit Family since Pig of Dalit Entered into the Agricultural Land

  • Summary:: Manoj Kumar (38) S/o Lallu, resident of Kamhari village under the jurisdiction of Robartsganj Police Station, Snebhadra District belongs to Dalit Community (Khatik) living with his wife Parmila(35), daughter Punam(11) and a son Satyandra(15). On 01/04/08 The Perpetrator Brij Mohan, the neighbour of Victim Manoj Kumar, belonging to Mouriya community came to victim’s house, abused the victim and his wife with filthy language and also abused them in the name of caste. The reason for this attack is the Pig owning to victim entered into the agricultural land of Brij Mohan and destroyed the field. After a while Perpetrator’s wife, son (Manoj), his cousin (Shiv Shankar) and his neighbour (Gopal Tiger) belonging to the same Mouriya Caste came to the Spot and they also started abusing the victim’s family. All of a sudden Perpetrator’s wife thrashed Manoj wife’s hair and hit her severely and the perpetrator Brij Mohan attacked the victim’s head with an axe and her eyes were also attacked. When the daughter of the victim Punam and the son Satyandra came to rescue their father Manoj Kumar, they were also attacked and severely beaten which resulted serious injuries and became unconscious. After they became unconscious the accused ran away from the spot. Because of this attack the victim lost his sight in one eye and others are severely injured. On the same day (01.04.08) the case was registered in Robartsganj Police Station by the victims and they were admitted in the District Govt hospital. The FIR no is 549/08 u/s 307, 323, 324, 504, 506, & 3 (1) (x) of SC/ST (PoA) Act 1989. The charge sheet is not yet filed. Accused was arrested but so far the victims did not get any relief and compensation.

Dalit Youth Mani Brutal Attacked Kadathur

  • Summary::

    Palani belongs to dalit community, reside at Indhira Nager, Kasilingampalayam, Erode district.  He was working as a Sanitary worker. He was derogatory referred abused caste name and brutally attacked by caste Hindu Mahendarn. Palani was brutally attacked by wood stick and deadly weapon. 

     

    He lodge the complaint in Kadathur police station, but police officials filed a case only under IPC section. They did not added SC/ST PoA act. A false complaint was filed against Palani by Mahendran. Since VCK party caders agitated to include SC/ST act and close false case which was filed against palani. These both cases was acquitted in Erode sessions court.
